Trick or Treatment?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

I can't think of a better day to discuss Fibroid TREATMENT OPTIONS because some may seem straight out of a science fiction novel.

Hysterectomy the removal of the uterus is not the only treatment for uterine fibroids. Annually, 200,000 to 300,000 women choose hysterectomy as the treatment for fibroid complications - making fibroids a leading cause of gynecological morbidity. Women in need of treatment often are unaware until symptoms become a threat to their reproductive systems. Few other options for treatment are available and those options are often costly or remove childbearing capabilities.

Little is known about other treatment options such as: Hormone treatment, MR Guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS), Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), Endometrial ablation, and Myomectomy. The names of these treatment are scary when you first hear them but look at the picture below to get a description about the treatment and it's advantages and disadvantages.
